  • Whitewater / Windsurfing / Ocean activities

How Do I Become an Approved Outfitter?
Outfitter's can begin the approval process by contacting the Portland Service Center at (503) 977-6800.

Bush House

Description : Explore Salem's history with a visit to the historic Bush House Museum, an 1878 Italianate residence that was home to pioneer businessman Asahel Bush II and his family.

Community Walls Project

Location Session to be held at your regular troop meeting location (must be within 1 hour driving distance of Portland). Reception/unveiling of Community Wall at Hostelling International, Northwest Portland Hostel.
Description : Community Walls asks girls what it's like to live in their community. Girls learn about cultures and investigate their own and that of their neighborhood. They work together to answer the questions in the form of an original piece of artwork/mural. Hostelling International staff leads an empowering discussion and art curriculum in five sessions during your troop's regular meetings. Culmination of the project is a special reception at a hostel where girls can celebrate their achievements and share their stories with travelers. Fee includes art supplies, snacks, five sessions facilitated by Hostelling International staff and reception at hostel.

Description : Come and celebrate at Kids Party Cafe with our Girl Scout Ice Cream Socials! Party includes a one hour facility rental, dancing and games, beverages, and our signature "Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundae!" Add your troop's handprint to our Girl Scout wall! Great for troop meetings, celebrations, holiday parties, kick-offs or just a fun get together. Ice cream socials can be booked Monday - Thursday.

Magness Memorial Tree Farm

Location Sherwood, OR
Description :

Take a hike or stay overnight and explore a beautiful Pacific Northwest forest! Magness Memorial Tree Farm is an 80 acre internationally recognized demonstration forest and outdoor education site owned and operated by the World Forestry Center based in Portland, Oregon. This beautiful property has a large natural area, small stream, nine comparative forest management zones, 2.5 miles of hiking trails, recreation field, small picnic shelter and rustic log cabins for youth group overnight camping, outdoor schools and retreats. Open daily 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Trip Planning Basics:

  • Most groups allow 2-3 hours for Walks and Talks programs, including lunch stop.
  • Reservations for day and overnight use of the Education Center, Outdoor Classroom (large shelter) and bunkhouse camping facilities can be made by calling (503) 488 2147.

Willamette Valley Humane Society

Location Salem, OR
Description :

Tour the Humane Society, meet the animals in need and practice caring for them. Tours are given Monday - Friday and the last tour of the day begins at 6:00 p.m. Tours last about one hour.

If you would like to make a donation, the shelter is in need of:

  • Pet food (opened is ok)
  • Cat litter
  • Toys
  • Peanut butter

World Forestry Center Discovery Museum

Location Portland, OR
Description :

It will change the way you look at trees! Our 20,000 sq. foot museum is located in Portland's beautiful Washington Park. The first floor of our museum focuses on forests od the Pacific Northwest and the role they play in providing habitat, water, recreation, wood and a multitude of other benefits. The second floor of our museum is divided into two major sections. One half of the space is devoted to temporary exhibits that explore art, history and culture from around the world. The other half will focus on forests around the world and their connections to people. Families and school groups will find exhibits that pique curiosity and encourage active learning. This is a must-see attraction for anyone who lives in the Pacific Northwest or is visiting from out of town.

Closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
