C.H.O.I.C.E.

Creating Her Own Individual Challenges and Experiences

What is the C.H.O.I.C.E. Program?

This program is offered in select areas of Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington. C.H.O.I.C.E. is focused on middle and high school aged girls who may not be involved in other organizations and may be having difficulty reaching their full potential. Leaders are recruited from local colleges and communities to provide positive female role models who can relate readily to the issues and concerns of teenage girls.

Become, Belong, Believe, and Build

In operation for over a decade, C.H.O.I.C.E. emphasizes:

  • Developing self-potential

  • Relating to others

  • Developing values

  • Contributing to society

How does the C.H.O.I.C.E. Program work?

School counselors refer girls who are not involved in other school activities and who would benefit the most from joining the program. Each group has two leaders that have been trained to be sensitive to special needs and/or relevant subjects which might need to be discussed. Activities include values clarifications, problem solving, communication, health care, relationship building, conflict/anger management, community resources, substance abuse and independent living skills.
