About Girl Scouts

Girl Scout Program

In Girl Scouting, Discover + Connect + Take Action = Leadership. All Girl Scout experiences are intentionally designed to tie to one or more of the 15 national leadership outcomes, or benefits, categorized under the three keys to leadership. This means that in every Girl Scout program delivered to girls of each age group, there will be a Discover, Connect and Take Action component. This ensures a consistent experience for girls across the country.

  • Discover: Girls understand themselves and their values and use their knowledge and skills to explore the world.
  • Connect: Girls care about, inspire, and team with others locally and globally.
  • Take Action: Girls act to make the world a better place.

What does it mean to be a member?

All members:

  • Have accepted the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Follow safety guidelines.
  • Pay annual membership dues of $12.00. Dues go directly to Girl Scouts USA for the girl's national membership and provides secondary insurance for each girl during all Girl Scout events.  Membership is from October 1 - September 30.  No girl is denied participation; financial assistance is available.
