First Aid and Babysitting Certification Weekend

Bridge Design

Location: Oregon State University

Get ready to challenge your creativity! In this workshop you’ll be team up with other Girl Scouts to build a bridge aiming to meet specifications for height, width and weight all while using a limited range of craft supplies. At the end we’ll test each design to see how it fares; so grab your engineering cap and get ready for some serious fun. We will serve a small snack during the workshop and before you leave we will treat you with a goodie bag.

Travel Discovery Workshop

Would you like to go surfing in Costa Rica; explore the sights of Australia; go dog sledding in Minnesota or kayaking in Alaska? How about exploring aerospace careers at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama; researching wildlife in Wyoming; walking the Freedom Trail in Boston; visiting Broadway in New York? As a Girl Scout, you have many opportunities to travel, whether someplace near or far with your troop, to one of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts World Centers with a patrol from our Council, or on your own as a participant in national destinations. Join us for a morning filled with workshops on all the ways you can travel with Girl Scouts. Learn about finding places to go, applying for trips, earning the money to get there, and being prepared for your exciting adventures.

Zoo Camperoo

Bring sleeping bags and tents for a special overnight at the Oregon Zoo. Your Girl Scout troop will set up camp on the concert lawn and then discover our animals under the cloak of darkness. Girls get behind-the-scenes tour of the vet hospital and animal kitchen, up-close animal presentations and a campfire with s’mores to end a wonderful evening. You will get an evening snack, breakfast and admission to the zoo the next day. Dinner is not included. The parking lot is pay to park. Trimet Blue and Red MAX lines both stop at Washington Park. This is not a drop-off event. Girls are required to be accompanied by an adult or their troop. Adults who are attending MUST register for this event. Troops must follow all rules for overnight travel. Please speak to your Service Unit's Event and Travel Coordinator if you have questions about these rules.

Intro to Gnu Image Manipulation Program (GIMP)

Young Rembrandts: 4-Week Mini Series

Outdoor Skills 1

Location: Emigrant Springs State Park

This course teaches adults the skills to teach girls to go camping when one or more of the following amenities is missing (water, heat, toilets, lights, kitchen facilities, and cell/phone coverage). The approximately 9 hour training includes hands on instruction allowing adults to learn how to teach girls at all levels to safely prepare food, cook outdoors and manage a campsite. This training is only available in group setting. It is recommended that this training be taken at least 3 months before a group plans an outing.

Young Rembrandts Summer Camps: Pattern and Design with Chalk Pastels
