Zoo Snooze

Location: Oregon Zoo

Experience the Oregon Zoo in a whole new light – moonlight! Discover our animals under the cloak of darkness. Girls get behind-the-scenes tour of the vet hospital and animal kitchen, up-close animal presentations, and in the morning watch an animal get an enrichment treat or toy. You will get an evening snack, breakfast and admission to the zoo the next day. Dinner is not included. The parking lot is pay to park.

CPR, First Aid & AED

Each approved organization follows different certification renewal guidelines that need to be followed. If taken from our Council, we are an authorized provider of American Red Cross and American Heart Association, Good Samaritan Certification. American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid & American Heart Association Good Samaritan CPR/First Aid certifications need to be updated every 2 years. If you take a course from another provider, please make sure to check with the instructor to determine when the certification will expire. If you have a current CPR card, you can take the CPR re-certification course, but it must be taken before your card expires. American Red Cross gives us a 30-day leeway period.

Cadette Digital Movie Maker

Young Rembrandts Cadette Comic Artist Badge Workshop

Mad Science: Lights Color Action

Mad Science: Ecosystems

Not only do plants and animals live in an ecosystem but all of the things that the plants and animals need to grow are also part of the ecosystem. Conflict Resolution 2

So you completed Conflict Resolution 1 and the steps are starting to make sense. Now what? Conflict Resolution 2 is where we start to dig a bit deeper and tackle more advanced concepts, as well as spend time practicing your new skills. Brownie Grade Level

Come learn skills and tips to becoming a great leader and share your ideas and successes with other volunteers! This group study covers the specific information needed to lead or prepare to lead girls in grades 2-3. If you have a copy of Volunteer Essentials please bring it with you. Some of the topics that will be covered in this course will age group characteristics, troop government, girl/adult partnership, planning with girls, troop meetings, program resources, recognitions/insignia/ceremonies. Pre-requisite: Volunteer Essentials This course as Group study is highly recommended.

The Great Electrifying Event at Bonneville Lock and Dam

Location: Bonneville Lock and Dam Washington Shore Visitor Center

This free educational event is designed to teach the basics of electricity and how it is generated at Bonneville Lock and Dam. Though geared toward elementary and middle school students, it’s informative and fun for the entire family. Participants can visit all of the stations and take a tour in about one and a half to two hours. Stamp your great Electrifying Event Passport at each station to earn a prize! Learn how different forms of energy work through hands-on activities and films. Tour Bonneville’s Powerhouse 2, including a walk on top of two generators and going partway inside another generator. This is one of many nationwide events celebrating National Engineering Week.

Individually Registered Girl Day at Oregon Children's Theater: Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made

This course teaches adults the skills to teach girls to go camping when one or more of the following amenities is missing (water, heat, toilets, lights, kitchen facilities, and cell/phone coverage). The approximately 9 hour training includes hands on instruction allowing adults to learn how to teach girls at all levels to safely prepare food, cook outdoors and manage a campsite. This training is only available in group setting. It is recommended that this training be taken at least 3 months before a group plans an outing.

Facilitating Adult Learning

Girl Scouts Advanced Camping gives you the advanced skills you need to successfully take your girls camping! During this two day course, you will learn advanced skills in how to teach your girls to pitch a tent, build a fire, and cook their meals on a wood fire. Learn knots and lashing, basic compass skills, and how to make an emergency shelter. Mad Science: Detective Science/OHEC
