Volunteer Training
This weekend course provides a foundation of First Aid principles and skills for individuals responding to remote emergencies when immediate emergency medical services are delayed or unavailable.
This is a scenario-based class, and there will be a lot of hands-on practice of skills. Participants need to be physically able to move around in all-weather gear, and be able to lie on the ground as a simulated “victim? for up to 30 minutes.
Participants should bring the following to training.
  • A personal backpack/daypack – packed with any supplies you would take for a long day hike. Include items in the event you are caught staying overnight.
  • Appropriate clothing for both inside and outside
  • Comfortable outside shoes
  • Notepad and pen/pencil
  • Personal snacks, beverages, and meals (refrigerator/microwave available on-site)
Participants should be present for the entire training to receive certification and credit for this course. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a Red Cross Certification for First Aid when access to EMS is more than 30 minutes away.
Registration for this course will remain open through 03/01/18 at 11:59 PM. If the number of registrants does not meet the required minimum by this date, the training will be cancelled.
