SOLVE IT for Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day by taking care of our beautiful state! The idea of people coming together on Earth Day to take care of and celebrate our planet began more than 45 years ago. Since then, SOLVE IT for Earth Day has grown into Oregon's largest Earth Day service event by providing a hands-on approach with this worldwide day of service.

Participant Information
This is a community event, open to the public, to which Girl Scouts are invited. Girls must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or troop leader.  AND adults are required to register and pay if applicable. This is not a “drop off�? activity.


Badge/Patch Information
Not Applicable

Food is not provided. Please plan ahead and pack a trash-free lunch.

  • Bring a pair of sturdy work gloves to reduce use of vinyl gloves
  • Bring a reusable water bottle
  • At litter cleanups, bring a bucket to reduce the amount of plastic trash bags used (not required)
  • At beach cleanups, bring an old colander to sift the tide line for harmful, bite-sized bits of trash (not required)
  • If you find hazardous debris, do not touch it! Report it to your project leader.

Attending as a troop/group? Follow safety ratio (ratios can be found in 2018/2019 Volunteer Essentials on page 65). Note: attending with any girl other than your own qualifies you as a Girl Scout group that needs to follow ratio requirements.

Adult Training Requirements
Trainings that at least one adult volunteer for each Girl Scout troop/group must have: Day Trips.
