Spring Oregon Beach Cleanup

Join SOLVE and thousands of volunteers as we clean up litter and marine debris from the entire Oregon coast! Since 1986, this home-grown tradition of twice-yearly beach cleanups has benefited people and wildlife alike, supporting clean seas and healthy communities.

Participant Information
This is a community event, open to the public, to which Girl Scouts are invited. Girls must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or troop leader.  AND adults are required to register and pay if applicable. This is not a “drop off�? activity.


Badge/Patch Information
Not Applicable

Food is not provided. Please plan ahead and pack a trash-free lunch.

  • Bring a pair of sturdy work gloves to reduce use of vinyl gloves
  • Bring a reusable water bottle
  • At litter cleanups, bring a bucket to reduce the amount of plastic trash bags used (not required)
  • At beach cleanups, bring an old colander to sift the tide line for harmful, bite-sized bits of trash (not required)
  • If you find hazardous debris, do not touch it! Report it to your project leader.

Attending as a troop/group? Follow safety ratio (ratios can be found in 2018/2019 Volunteer Essentials on page 65). Note: attending with any girl other than your own qualifies you as a Girl Scout group that needs to follow ratio requirements.

Adult Training Requirements
Trainings that at least one adult volunteer for each Girl Scout troop/group must have: Day Trips.
