Attention Girl Scouts in grades 9, 10, and 11! Have you been a
Girl Scout for at least two years? Would you like to be an advocate
for all Girl Scouts, and help to guide our Girl Scout council in
fulfilling its mission? Would you like to see how a board of directors
functions? If you answered “YES!” then we encourage you to apply to be a Girl Board
Member!
Our current bylaws permit the selection by
the council membership of up to two Girl Scout Seniors or Ambassadors
who serve a one (1) year term as a non-voting member of our board of
directors. At this time, we are seeking to fill one position opening
in April 2021. Girl Board Members will participate in board meetings,
but do not have voting rights. They are invited to join board
committee meetings and other events as appropriate. Girl Board Members
bring a valued perspective to board discussion and decisions, and
serve as ambassadors to encourage girl participation in Girl Scouting.
The time commitment is approximately three hours per month.
Serving as a Girl Board Member is a great opportunity to
strengthen and expand leadership skills. It's also a valuable
experience to add to applications for college, vocational school,
internships and more.
How to Apply
Interested Girl Scouts should fully complete the Girl
Board Member Application and send it by January 31, 2021,
to GSOSW at the address below or email the application to abuffum@girlscoutsosw.org.
