On March 12, Girl Scouts worldwide will commemorate the day that Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the first 18 members into Girl Scouts. This marks Girl Scouts official birthday, and the start of this year's Girl Scout Week! Girl Scout Week is celebrated every March, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on a Saturday, and it always includes Girl Scouts birthday, March 12. Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington encourages you to join in the fun by participating in our Girl Scout Week themes! Each day has a different theme and different ways for you to celebrate and show your Girl Scout pride. Girl Scout Week also includes Girl Scouts Celebrate Faith events. During these events, many troops celebrate the connections between Girl Scouting and their faith, learn more about other faiths, and recognize Girl Scouts in their house of worship.

SUNDAY, MARCH 12
Girl Scouts Birthday, Girl Scouts
Celebrate Faith, Girl Scout Sunday
Kick off Girl
Scout Week by celebrating Girl Scouts’ birthday! Take a dive into Girl
Scout history to learn about some of the first badges that the
original 18 Girl Scouts earned in 1912.
Sunday also kicks off our Girl Scouts Celebrate Faith Events that will take place throughout the week! Girl Scouts Celebrate Faith events help Girl Scouts recognize the connections between the Girl Scout promise and law and their own faith, learn more about other faiths different from their own, and to allow Girl Scouts to be recognized in their house of worship. This is also a time to thank faith partners for their support throughout the year, and honor adult volunteers. Girl Scouts Celebrate Faith can be celebrated with any faith partner. 2023 celebration dates include:
- Girl Scout Sunday – Sunday, March 12, 2023
- Girl Scout Jummah – Friday, March 17, 2023
- Girl Scout Sabbath/Shabbat – Friday, March 17/Saturday, March 18, 2023
Girl Scouts Celebrate Faith can include participation in worship service, pre-and post-worship events, and service projects!
