The Science of Sewing with Sheila : 10/10 Eugene Service Center

Girls will lean how to sew while creating a project and also make an item to donate! They will also each earn the new GSOSW Sience of Sewing Patch.

Girls will learn some history of sewing and get to try a 1950's sewing mache and see how an old crank sewing machine works too! Girls will get to meet a couple of long time sewing enthusiastics and see some fun projects the volunteers will be sharing. Finally, girls will have the opportunity to see how sewing has changed the world!

Please note: Girls with long hair will need to pull their hair back while using the machines.

This is a Girl Scout activity for registered members only.

Girls do not need to be accompanied by an adult. A few currently registered and background checked adults are needed to serve as safety ratio. If you are able to volunteer, please email


In order to apply your girl's Program Credits to her balance for an event registration, please select to pay with Program Credits during registration AND complete the GSOSW Events Program Credit Payment Form and be sure to read all form instructions before submitting. Our council can only accept Program Credit payments from GSOSW members.

Badge and/or Patch Information
Girls will earn the new Sience of Sewing patch!

Girls can bring a snack and a water bottle, granola bars will be provided.

Attending as a troop/group? Follow the safety ratios listed in Volunteer Essentials. Note: attending with any girl other than your own qualifies you as a Girl Scout group that needs to follow ratio requirements.

Adult Training Requirements
Trainings that at least one adult volunteer for each Girl Scout troop/group must have: Day Trips.

Registration, Cancellation, Transfer & Refund Information
Registration for this Activity is hosted by Girl Scouts - Please email on or before the registration deadline for assistance.

Registration closes October 17, 2021, one (1) week before the activity is scheduled. Request for cancellation/refund must be submitted via email to by this date. A refund less the council administrative fee is available.

Transfer deadline is three business days after the cancellation deadline. Request for transfer (applying registration to another Girl Scout) must be submitted via email to by this date.

GSOSW reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If GSOSW cancels an event, registrants will be notified and offered a full refund.
