This course provides a foundation of First Aid principles and skills for individuals responding to remote emergencies when immediate emergency medical services are delayed or unavailable. This is a scenario-based class, and there will be a lot of hands-on practice of skills. Participants need to be physically able to move around in all-weather gear, and be able to lie on the ground as a simulated victim for up to 30 minutes.

Upon completion, you will receive a Red Cross Certification for Wilderness and Remote First Aid valid for two years.

This certification is required for Girl Scout activities when Emergency Medical Services are more than 30 minutes away and/or when cell service is limited.

Participant Information

Training will take place in-person over two days from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM each day on Saturday, 9/30 and Sunday, 10/1, at GSOSW's Mountaindale Outdoor Program Center. The full address can be found in the "My Events" section of a participant's myGS account after registering.

A confirmation email will also be sent the week before training. Please check your spam folder and email Answers@girlscoutsosw.org if you do not receive this by late afternoon on Friday, September 22.

Overnight accommodations will be available at this location Friday and/or Saturday night.

Participants must be present for the entire training to receive certification and credit for this course.
GSOSW volunteer trainings are adult, member-only and council-only, events. Please make other arrangements for your children.

Price

$100/adult

  • Sack lunch, personal snacks, and a water bottle (no meals provided, refrigerator/microwave available on-site)

Training Prerequisites

Participants are required to have a valid CPR, AED, & First Aid certification on file with GSOSW before attending this training. Please submit a copy to Answers@girlscoutsosw.org if you do not have this record on file.

Participants who do not have this certification on file by the cancellation/registration deadline of 9/25/23 will have their registration cancelled without a refund.

Additional Information
