Celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math at our annual STEM Day! Explore the STEM expo with tons of hands-on booths and discover the Chemeketa Community College campus as you participate in unique hands-on workshops hosted by various departments! Begin working on a car in the auto shop, code a robot in the robotics lab, or discover the technology of farming at the greenhouse! The expo-style booths this year include exciting topics like understanding the brain with OHSU, bird banding & research with ODFW, digital creativity & graphic design with Adobe, engineering with OSU, clean energy with PGE, and hands-on construction with NAWIC. STEM Day is for everyone, so be sure to invite a friend along!

Participant Information

  • This event is open to current Girl Scout members and youth interested in becoming Girl Scout members. Invite a friend to join you! Not yet a member? This event is a great way to try Girl Scouts-after selecting a youth ticket, choose "non-member" when registering for this event. To register a boy sibling, select the "Family Guest" ticket during registration.
  • Girl Scouts must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or troop leader. AND adults are required to register and pay to attend. This is not a drop-off activity.

Price
$15.00/youth
$15.00/adult

In order to apply your Girl Scouts Program Credits to a balance for an event registration, please select to pay with Program Credits during registration AND complete the GSOSW Events Program Credit Payment Form and be sure to read all form instructions before submitting. Our council can only accept Program Credit payments from GSOSW members.

Badge and/or Patch Information

  • Everyone will receive a 2024 STEM Day fun patch.
  • All Girl Scouts will earn their STEM Career Exploration badge (to be purchased separately from a GSOSW retail location) and will also complete the first step in the STEAM Challenge patch.
  • Girl Scouts will also complete steps towards several other Girl Scout badges and patches, details for these will be announced in the confirmation email.

Food
This year we have partnered with some local food carts and Chemeketa Community College to have food options available for purchase throughout the event! Please plan to either pack a lunch or plan to purchase a lunch from one of the available vendors. From 12:00-1:00 all STEM Day activities will shut down and be closed for a lunch break, you will need to leave the expo and workshop space during that time. You are welcome to explore the campus, find a spot to hang out while eating lunch, or leave the campus and come back.

Attending as a troop/group? Follow the safety ratios listed in Volunteer Essentials. Note: attending with any girl other than your own qualifies you as a Girl Scout group that needs to follow ratio requirements.

Adult Training Requirements
At least one adult volunteer for each Girl Scout troop/group must have completed either Girl Scouts Inside & Out Parts 1 & 2 OR Day Trips Training. There are no adult training requirements for those chaperoning a single girl or Juliette.
