Trefoil Cookies and Milk

GSOSW is proud to continue our partnership with the Dairy Farmers of Oregon for this year's Girl Scout Cookie Program! The debate continues in 2012: to dunk or not to dunk? Check out the videos below - NEW for 2012 - to see where these GSOSW Girl Scouts stand on dunking cookies in milk. One thing they agree on: Girl Scout cookies and milk are the perfect pair!

Trefoil Girl Scout Cookies Help Girls

When you purchase Girl Scout cookies, you are actively participating in a girl's success and investing in her potential to become a strong, confident and resourceful citizen. Much more than a fundraiser, the Girl Scout Cookie Program is a hands-on leadership and entrepreneurial program for girls, through which they practice five important life skills: goal setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics. Many successful business women today say they got their start selling Girl Scout cookies!

All of the proceeds from Girl Scouts OSW's cookie activities remain in the area where the cookies are sold. This revenue is used to benefit girls, some of it directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop/group treasury and some of it indirectly by subsidizing the cost of providing Girl Scout program in the local area.

Trefoil Update on Palm Oil from GSUSA

There has been a great deal of coverage on this topic recently and we wanted to let you know that Little Brownie Bakers is working to eliminate palm oil from our cookies. At this time it is still necessary to use tropical oils for the production of compound coating or as part of a proprietary blended oil with small amounts of palm included. Many top bakers have tried to stop using it, but without it, their products do not meet production standards and consumer taste expectations. Little Brownie Bakers and their palm oil suppliers are members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), an organization of growers, buyers, manufacturers, conservationists and interested parties who are striving to develop and follow best practices to ensure sustainability. We feel hopeful that as advances are made in food technology, the public will be seeing more improvements – just like when trans fat were removed from most varieties and reduced to a trace amount in others in 2006 – in the recipes of Girl Scout cookies. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Sarah Miller, Director of Communications at (800) 338-5248 x6861 or smiller@girlscoutsosw.org.
