Outdoor Skills is an important step in the outdoor training progression. This hands-on training prepares adults how to teach Girl Scouts the intricacies of managing a campsite at an established site. You will learn to teach Girl Scouts how to safely use outdoor tools, strike and use matches, light wood fires and propane stoves, split wood, safely use knives, set up camp, set up tents, prepare for sleeping in the outdoors, and complete all the meal preparation and clean-up so by the time your troop goes camping, the Girl Scouts will be taking themselves. Expect to spend 6 months or more teaching and equipping a troop with all of these skills.

This course is a part of the Mountaindale September Training Palooza and occurs at the same time as some other trainings that are being offered. Attendees should view this Training Palooza chart to confirm that they are not signing up for trainings that conflict with one another. If you've accidentally double-booked your time, please email answers@girlscoutsosw.org and we can help rearrange your training schedule.
