This course provides a foundation of First Aid principles and skills for individuals responding to remote emergencies when immediate emergency medical services are delayed or unavailable. This is a scenario-based class, and there will be a lot of hands-on practice of skills. Participants need to be physically able to move around in all-weather gear and lie on the ground as a simulated victim for up to 30 minutes. Upon completion, you will receive a Red Cross Certification for Wilderness and Remote First Aid, valid for two years. This certification is required for Girl Scout activities when Emergency Medical Services are more than 30 minutes away and/or when cell service is limited.
This course is a part of the Mountaindale September Training Palooza and occurs at the same time as some other trainings that are being offered. Attendees should view this Training Palooza chart to confirm that they are not signing up for trainings that conflict with one another. If you've accidentally double-booked your time, please email answers@girlscoutsosw.org and we can help rearrange your training schedule.
