Three Programs with Seasonal Employment Opportunities
Overnight Camp

If you have a passion for outdoor experiences, then a seasonal job with one of our summer overnight camps may be for you!

Spending time in the outdoors is a cornerstone of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Outdoor experiences in Girl Scouts provide opportunities for girls to discover, connect, and take action in ways that build courage, confidence, and character. These experiences increase girls’ understanding and curiosity about the natural world and shape girl leaders who are environmentally conscientious. The all-girl environment and proven programming show girls the benefits of outdoor experiences in ways that encourage them to take healthy risks and overcome their fears.

To make all of this possible, we need dedicated and talented staff to help teach girls new skills and keep them safe as they explore new camp experiences. Most of your time will be spent in the great outdoors doing fun activities with girls such as camping, hiking, archery, swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts – depending on your skills and interests.

What's life at camp like?

  • Camp staff live on-site during the summer (mid-June through the end of August).
  • Meals and lodging are included.
  • Accommodations include screened cabins, yurts, and Adirondacks. Shower and toilet facilities are separate from cabins, and could include non-flush toilets and dormitory style showers.
  • Modern amenities, such as a staff house with Wi-Fi, are available during breaks.
  • Enjoy at least one full day of time off per week.

Latina Engagement Program

Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington’s Latina Engagement Program works to equalize access to a powerful leadership model for girls in local schools and community organizations. Through enriching leadership and learning opportunities, girls develop a strong sense of self, seek challenges, display positive values, form and maintain healthy relationships, and identify and solve problems in their community. This program provides quality after-school programming that engages girls and exposes them to new opportunities to help them reach their full potential.

Girl Scouts Latina Engagement Program offers a culturally responsive, high-quality introduction to Girl Scouts for Latina girls, in partnership with community-based organizations and Migrant Education programs offered at school districts throughout the region.

We have seasonal opportunities for Activities Leaders in our Latina Engagement Program: Puentes (summer) & Community Troops (School Year).

Working in teams, Activities Leaders coordinate activities for groups of girls, grades K-8, facilitate community troop meetings, and serve as positive role models in migrant education, after-school, summer school and extended care programs throughout Oregon. Activities are girl-centered and promote positive self-growth. As guides of the Girl Scouts Leadership Experience, Activities Leaders support girl-led curriculum in areas such as STEM, the arts, healthy living, and leadership development.

We strongly encourage bilingual applicants to apply to better serve our Spanish-speaking communities. Being bilingual is not a requirement for this position.

Puentes (meaning Bridges) summer program operates during summer school and extended care programs throughout Oregon. Temporary, seasonal part-time positions run mid-June through the end of July, 10-30 hours/week (Monday-Thursdays). Multiple sites: Eugene, Hermiston, Silverton and Hillsboro.

Community Troops

Girl Scouts in Community Troops meet 1-2 days per week during the academic year and follow the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Girls work on badges, participate in product sales, and attend Girl Scout activities. Community Troops meet in a housing unit, community-based organization or school setting.

Temporary, seasonal part-time positions run during the school year. 6-12 hours per week, two days per week (Monday & Wednesday, or Tuesday & Thursday), during after-school hours. Multiple sites: Gresham, Forest Grove and Woodburn.
