Ready to take the next step in travel with your troop after a successful overnight together? This workshop will support volunteers with best practices and tools to use in helping Girl Scouts plan a girl-led trip of 2 - 3 nights within the council region (no more than a 6 hour drive from home). This workshop picks up where Girl Scouts Inside and Out Part 2/Before Your First Overnight leaves off. It assumes the participants have done several field trips, long day trips and at least one night overnight trip with their troop/group. All participants will leave the training with a binder of tools and resources to help them support their troop in planning a short trip.

  • Identify 3 types of short trips based on leader readiness.
  • List 3 financial considerations for a short trip.
  • Describe 3 components of a girl-led short trip.
  • Use at least 2 planning tools that promote girl trip planning, decision making and skills development.
  • Create a planning timeling for a short trip.
