Noticing a lack of education and awareness about the importance of composting as a valuable resource, Kyla worked with a local shelter that serves meals to create a collection system for its food waste. The waste is now being delivered to a local non-profit farm, where it is made into compost. She trained high school students interested in the environment to continue the project and regularly volunteer. She and her team also created an orientation video for all new volunteers.
Kyla is an Emerald Circle Scholarship recipient. Congratulations, Kyla!
