Andi noted the lack of public discussion about the variety of religious and faith traditions in her community, leading to ignorance and causing bigotry and hate. To tackle this issue, she proposed and coordinated a week of events at St. Mary’s Academy to celebrate its religiously diverse community and to raise awareness of different religions and spiritual traditions. She recruited a planning committee of students, which ran several events during the first annual Interfaith Week. This included a student panel and a guest panel, both of which highlighted people from diverse religious backgrounds. The following year, she repeated the popular panels and expanded the week to add a celebration, a facilitated dialogue event, and a school-wide craft. She also created a website with resources and information on how to run the events. Her school has confirmed that Interfaith Week will continue in future years.
