Open Water Safety Course

Kylie recognized that many people in her community enjoy recreation on open waters such as rivers and lakes, but that water safety courses tailored to their unique risks were scarce. Working with experts, she designed a course that combined dryland instruction with in-the-pool practical exercises. Kylie held one course for local Girl Scouts and circulated her curriculum to aquatic directors at 28 other pools. Her local recreation district has agreed to offer the Open Water Safety course regularly.
