Audrey focused on educating others about pollinators, the wide range of benefits they provide, and how we can help address their declining population. Since pollinators are a commonly overlooked and crucial part of the ecosystem, she created and installed 5 signs posted around the Iron Mountain Garden in Lake o with a a QR code and infographics providing information on flowers favored by pollinators, bees, butterflies and other less well known pollinators. She also organized an Introduction Day at the Iron Mountain Garden, where she staffed several tables with volunteers who provided information on pollinators, passed out milkweed seed packets with planting instructions, and led a scavenger hunt with crocheted bees as prizes for completion. The attendees showed interest in improving pollinator habitats and said they would tell their friends to check out the signs. The Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation District will keep the signage up to date, clean, and accessible in the future.
