Bhoomi’s project focused on two groups. She began by starting an inclusive run club for teen girls. Then, after consulting with adaptive sports specialists, she organized, designed, and held four fun runs at a local park for children with disabilities. During the events, her volunteers acted as “running buddies” with the children around the specially designed courses. They also provided an educational table (with goodies too!) for the children and their families. Bhoomika compiled a detailed resource binder explaining how to train volunteers to lead these events. The local recreation department has committed to offering similar runs in the future.
