After learning that certain sunscreen chemicals can be toxic to freshwater ecosystems, Serafina worked with her local parks department to create an educational campaign to reduce their impact. Targeting users of her community's popular river, she created permanent signage for river access points and handouts for local recreational outfitters, hotels, and tour companies, emphasizing the need to use eco-friendly sunscreens. She also created social media public service announcements.
